RESOLUTION OF GANADO FIRE DISTRICT BOARD OF DIRECTORS RESOLUTION No. GFD 2024-002

RESPECTFULLY REQUESTING THE NAVAJO NATION LAW AND ORDER COMMITTEE AND THE NAVAJO NATION BUDGET AND FINANCE COMMITTEE TO INCLUDE THE ALL-FIRE DEPARTMENT WHO SERVE THE NAVAJO NATION RESIDENCE IN THE FUND MANAGEMENT PLAN FOR THE FIRE AND RESCUE SERVICES FUNDS

DULY PASSED ON January 31, 2024

WHEREAS,

1. The Ganado Fire District is a political subdivision of the state of Arizona, formed for the protection of persons and property in an area approved by Apache County, and; 2. The Ganado Fire District is an independent government and is governed under the oversight of its board of directors elected at large by the citizens of the district, and; 3. Ganado Fire District renders emergency services to the Navajo Nation communities of Ganado, Steamboat, Kindahlichii, Klagetoh, Cornfields, Woodsprings, Cross Canyon, Bashbito, Toyei and many other Navajo Nation communities; and 4. The Ganado Fire District provides and is responsible for the following services provided to the Navajo People: a. Suppression and control of fires that threaten the life, health, and property of persons; b. Providing emergency life support measures, urgent medical care, and transportation to medical facilities; c. Emergency and disaster area evacuations; d. Fire safety education programs; e. Hazardous waste handling and storage; f. Building inspections and plan reviews to ensure compliance with applicable fire, safety, and building codes; g. 24/7 9-1-1 emergency dispatching services to its fire personnel, Navajo Nation EMS and Navajo Law Enforcement Officers in the Ganado Region. 5. The Ganado Fire District supports Navajo Nation Fire and Rescue Services in the initiative of updating the Funds Management Plan for the Fire & Rescue Services Funds; and
