GFD Regular Board Meeting Minutes October 2016

o Mr. Marcarlo Roanhorse gave an estimated amount of roughly $800.00 per person (this includes registration, lodging, mileage, and per diems), compared to $1,200.00 person at to attend the Summer Conferences. If all four board members are sent, an estimated cost will be $3,200.00. If all four board members and two administrative staff are sent, an estimated cost will be $4,800.00. o Mr. Jeremy Curtis asked if we were financial prepared for the winter conditions and if we had the expense to attend the conference. He doesn’t mind attending, as long as there is money available. o Ms. LaVerne Joe expressed that the staff need to update themselves with the changes and to provide quality assurance. The staff work hard and deserve to attend this conference. Send someone who is dependable and will use the training in a quick response. o Mr. Joey Apachee stated that if the rooms are $33.00 a night that it’s a really good deal. He expressed that as a new board member he would need to take the ethics and open meeting law classes within six months of being appointed. o Ms. Lela Sangster expressed that she is concerned and wants to watch the budget. She would like to save money for the district and that Joey is the main one that needs to attend. She would like to send the staff, if it was appropriate. She expressed that her term was ending and needed to make sure she was going to on for another term. She also expressed that she would like to see a detailed breakdown of the cost per person.  Ms. LaVerne Joe made a motion to have Joey Apachee and any interested board members, who would like to attend the 2017 Winter AFDA Conference, to contact Fire Chief Dewayne Woodie to register them for the AFDA Conference. Fire Chief Dewayne Woodie will determine which staff will attend the Conference and was second by Joey Apachee. Motion was carried for approval with 4 in favor 0 opposing and 0 Abstain.

Mr. Joey Apachee motioned for ADJOURNMENT at 18:44 P.M. M.S.T and second by Mr. Jeremy Curtis. The motion was carried with 4 in favor 0 opposed and 0 abstain. Regular Fire Board meeting is adjourn at 18:44 P.M. M.S.T by Ms. Lela Sangster.
